If this gets any thicker, jetliners are going to have to send up explosive charges to break through to the clean air above, the way that submarines have to blast through the ice to surface at the North Pole.
Although, come to think of it, that may be a bad simile, since the ice at the North Pole has broken up and melted to the point where subs can pretty much surface through open water. Partly as a result of “contaminacion del aire” of the type seen here.
