The Director at Work

In the movie parlance, thhis is known as the “Hero Shot.” There are so many little things to pay attention to when you are directing. But there are times when all the background noise just kind of fades away and you see in your head what it is that you think that you can get, and how that little piece will fit in with the bigger jumble of puzzle pieces that’s swirling over your head morning, noon and night.

The week after I was done with this, I slept better than I have in months, perhaps years. The tension is coming back at me now, because I know that there are so many things that I have yet to do to get this to the next plateau. But the Fitzcarraldo boat is at least 1/2 way up the muddy slope right now.

I hope.
