I think I’m grinning this widely from sheer punch-drunk exhaustion. The 4th day of shooting was by far the most difficult. Both technically and emotionally. The actresses to my right and left – Brynn and Erin had to repeatedly go through wrenching emotional scenes in a stinky alley.
The actors had to navigate a gigantor Escalade down an alley precisely far enough to snatch the trash out of Brynn’s hand without actually causing bodily injury. Never have I so regretted not having adequate insurance coverage. And directly behind me is the lovely Kelly Kay Davis, who had the patience of a saint and jazzed up a short role into something funny, touching and ultimately, more than I envisioned on the page.
Which is all you can ask for, really. So thanks guys. I hope I was as good a director as you were actors.
As someone who spent many hours on that set, what most amazed me was not just that everyone finished the day alive, but that they were still laughing…
