{"id":772,"date":"2008-10-31T16:29:45","date_gmt":"2008-11-01T00:29:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artesianmedia.com\/blog\/2008\/10\/31\/time-restructuring-follow-up-economic-tsunami-2\/"},"modified":"2008-10-31T16:29:45","modified_gmt":"2008-11-01T00:29:45","slug":"time-restructuring-follow-up-economic-tsunami-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artesianmedia.com\/blog\/time-restructuring-follow-up-economic-tsunami-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Time Restructuring Follow-Up: &#8220;Economic Tsunami&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just as a follow-up to my earlier post on the Time, Inc. restructuring &#8212; CEO Ann Moore spoke in front of the Audit Bureau of Circulation about the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foliomag.com\/2008\/time-inc-ceo-restructuring-it-was-looking-1931\"> generally dismal state<\/a> of the magazine publishing industry, which she reckoned is being hit by &#8220;an economic tsunami.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Not all that much new about what Time is doing, although the analysis that &#8220;escapist&#8221; brands are going to see a short-term spike fits in with the ongoing trends in entertainment &#8230; kinda like how during Great Depression I, moviegoers flocked to see Fred Astaire &amp; Ginger Rogers movies, so they could escape for a time from the grim reality of unemployment, poverty, Dust Bowl &amp; bread lines. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153By this October it was looking like 1931,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153[Time Inc.] has never had so many advertising clients in trouble at the same time.
