He likes to bill himself as a &#8220;Creative Data Scientist,&#8221; because there is a growing need for people who can exist with &#8220;a foot in both worlds&#8221; &#8212; that is, in both data and analytics, AND in design and human factors.<\/p>\n<p>Dave has produced more than 30 hours of online video training courses for KelbyOne (the entire Adobe Edge series of apps) and Pluralsight. The most recent courses are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pluralsight.com\/courses\/google-analytics-creative-professionals\">Google Analytics for Creative Professionals<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pluralsight.com\/courses\/using-predictive-analytics-improve-customer-journey\">Using Predictive Analytics to Improve the Customer Journey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He has written or coauthored five books, including\u00c2\u00a0<em>Social Media Design For Dummies\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><em>Mobile Web Design For Dummies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As an adjunct professor at the Annenberg School for Journalism at the University of Southern California, David taught Digital Immersion, Online Multimedia, and Digital Publishing.<\/p>\n<p>He has also been a guest lecturer at the Institute for the Digital Future of Journalism at the Mohyla University in Kiev, Ukraine; the Nelson Mandala School of Journalism in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile.<\/p>\n<p>David has twice been awarded Fulbright specialist grants. In 2017, he traveled to Myanmar\u00c2\u00a0to work with the Thabyay Educational Foundation. In 2012, he traveled to Ethiopia to train NGOs, journalists, and pro-democracy groups in digital media skills.<\/p>\n<p>David started his career as a journalist with a Pulliam Fellowship and worked as a copy editor at the Arizona Republic.
