How We Work

We create new sites and we redesign existing sites to be more effective and easier to update.

Because we also teach web design (learn about our books & videos at DigitalFamily.com ), we can show you (or your staff) how to update your site when we're done, making it easy for you to have more control over your online presence and saving you money in updating costs.

Who We Are

We bring together a team of specialists for each project and we have a good track record for keeping projects on schedule and on budget. Most of the project management is done by Janine Warner, partner in Artesian Media and author of more than a dozen books on Web design (see video below.)

We offer advanced programming services (PHP, JAVA, AJAX, Action Script, and more), and we can help with writing, editing, photography, and video production, as well.

When we say we're not just high tech, we're high touch, we mean we take on just a few clients each year and we help with every aspect of creating a site -- from strategy and planning to writing text and shooting video, to coding in PHP, CSS, XHTML, and more. And once we pull all that off, we're happy to help you with launching and promoting your site when it's done.

Developing a Web Site for You

We like to begin with a consultation to better understand what kinds of things you want to do, sell, or create on your site, and what you already have ready. We can do this initial review by phone, web conference, or over coffee if you're in the neighborhood. (We're based in California, but we work with clients all over the country. It's a virtual world, after all.)

Once we understand the scope of your project, and we're sure that we can meet your goals and objectives with the right team, we'll put together a proposal outlining what we can do for you and what kind of budget it will require.

How much do you charge for Web design?

I completely understand why you want to know what your web site will cost, but it's really hard to answer that question before we put together a basic project plan and define the scope of what you need. We can give you a general idea of costs after our initial review, but we offer a wide range of services with different rates.

It's an overused metaphor, but building a web site is a lot like building a house, the cost varies depending on your taste and budget. Do you want a marble staircase to the master suite or a ladder to the loft?

Once we understand what you want, we can assemble a team of programmers, writers, designers, and multimedia specialists, and put together a proposal and budget. This initial review sometimes takes us a fair amount of time, but we've found it's worth making sure we start out on the right foot, and we'll never charge you until you agree we're the right match and you've signed a simple letter of agreement.

We value long-term relationships with clients, but we'll never 'hold you hostage.' We like to keep clients well informed and we encourage you to get as involved in developing and maintaining your own web site as your schedule and skills allow. In our initial review, we can help you choose the technology that's best for you (blog, web site, ecommerce package) to help you make the best investment in a site that will be easy for you to update and maintain so that your site serve you for years to come.
