Journalism in the Digital Age: a series of internet training seminars organized with the Andiarios Colombia newspaper association
Artesian Media partners Dave LaFontaine and Janine Warner presented a series of multimedia serminars for 17 Colombian newspapers, traveling throughout the country during the months of November 2007 and February 2008.
With great success, a series of seminars "Journalism in the Digital Age" was organized by the Colombian Association of Newspapers in cooperation with the National Training Service (SENA). Some 400 participants from newsrooms, ad departments, and management at 17 newspapers around the country particpated in the program, which provided specialized training in tecnology, marketing, sales, and multimedia.
As part of the seminars, created and conducted by Janine Warner and David LaFontaine, participants indentified new opportunities and new strategies in an era of globalization and technological change.
As part of the program, newspaper staff and management received training in how to incorporate new strategies into their organizations with the goal of developing new business opportunities and improving their competitiveness and efficiency.
The program was offered in two parts. The first included El Universal, El Heraldo, El Meridiano de Córdoba, El Meridiano de Sucre, El Colombiano, El Nuevo Día, and El Tiempo. The second part included La Patria, La Tarde, El Diario del Otún, La Crónica, El País, La Opinión y Vanguardia Liberal, El Espectador, and La República.
