Intelliseek has launched a new service called Blogpulse – which is an interesting attempt to try to get a handle on what exactly is going on in the blogosphere. The tools purport to show & describe how popular a blog is, how many conversations the blog spawns, and what the up-to-the-minute trends are.

According to Blogpulse, the top-ranked story for today is a Michelle Malkin piece on an Afghani man who is apparently about to be put to death for converting to Christianity.  She likes to use the word "moonbat" a lot, which is the preferred epithet of the right-wing blogs.  The word in fashion on the left is currently "wingnut." (Although I have a kind of sneaking hope that "Bushbot" will win out.)

The #2 post is something called "Hullabaloo" – about the Feingold resolution to censure Bush.

The #3 post is from Carnivorous Conservative, and it’s all about the AP story about Bush (and other politicians) using "straw man" arguments in their speeches.

These stories are all about politics – squabbling amongst the politically furious. It’ll be interesting to see if this trend holds up over the next couple of months – or if sports, entertainment or porn (ah, the old reliables) will start cracking the top spots…
